SURGbase produces a discharge letter in under 60 seconds, summarizing the operative experience of a given patient (see
Figure
3.1). These can be printed on the day of surgery, and provides hospitals with an excellent means of communicating with their referring doctors.
A comprehensive LMO database can be sourced to speed up data entry of LMO names / practice
addresses.
Typically, one copy is sent to the LMO. Another is placed into the medical record. These have been particularly popular with Day Surgery patients, for whom communication with LMOs is often difficult to maintain.
