SURGbase offers the operating Surgeon / Registrar the ability to produce typed operation notes with minimal effort (see
Figure
2.1). The peripheral details are completed in the usual manner, with Operation Details and Post Operative Orders left for the Surgeon / Registrar to complete.
This eliminates the scenario of handwriting errors resulting in prolonged inpatient stay or inappropriate post-operative care. In addition, recording the operation notes in this manner provides a lasting record of the patient’s operative experience should re-exploration / investigation be required.
