National audits
SURGbase are strongly supportive of national audits and appreciate the rigors of collecting large volumes of standardised accurate data.
Any patient information entered into SURGbase can be made available to support these projects, reducing double entry of clinical information.
Some of the better national audit projects include:
Melbourne vascular surgical audit (MVSA)
The Melbourne Vascular Surgery Association (MVSA), together with the Victorian Department of Human Services, have developed a program to collect data about, and report on, vascular surgery in Victorian hospitals.
Australian Comprehensive Clinical Outcomes and Research Database (ACCORD)
A cancer patient registry and outcomes database providing real time accurate patient pool demographics and patient history information for sponsors. This system is now fully operational and data collection started at all Cancer Trials Australia sites, except Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre which has developed their cancer patient datasets compatible to ACCORD.
SURGbase is initially focusing on colorectal cancer.
National breast cancer audit
The RACS National Breast Cancer Audit database has collected detailed information on a high proportion of patients undergoing surgery for breast cancer in Australia and New Zealand since 1998.
Head and neck cancer audit
SURGbase have collaborated with head and neck surgeons at Southern Health to collect prospective information pertaining to head and neck cancers.
Other audits
SURGbase can create customised audits upon request with a focus on state and national audit programmes.
