Simple to use

SURGbase Enterprise enables users to record all patient demographic, operation, and complication details in a well structured, simple-to-use program.

The database is patient-centric, ie., each patient can have infinite admissions. Each admission can have infinite operations. Each operation can have infinite procedures. Morbidity can be related to operative interventions, or can be linked to the patient admission. Patients can be referred from one surgical unit to another.

Admissions can be automated through a link with the hospital information system, although the 'medical admission' is still essential and reduces errors associated with 'clerical admission' of patients.

A password governs access to the program, and prevents users from one surgical unit accessing patients from a different specialty unit. Patients are easily accessed or added via the Main screen. "Active" patients are stored within easy reach, while recently discharged patients can still be accessed from the Main screen. "Clicking" a patient using the mouse moves the user to the Patient screen, which contains all of the details pertaining to the individual. This includes all operative procedures, complications, and past medical history items. Admission notes can be included for complex patients.
