Computer software is traditionally delivered using a ‘Purchase / Maintenance’ arrangement. Another alternative is to use a ‘Subscription’-based system, with a fixed annual amount for maintenance and support. The pricing will depend upon the complexity of the installation.

SURGbase uses a transparent formula to calculate pricing for institutions / hospitals. The components of the formula include:

• Numbers of sites / campuses that require installation
• Numbers of specialties using the software
• Modifications to the basic SURGbase model
• Integration to existing hospital applications

To give an indication of pricing, for a typical single-site hospital with use by four surgical specialties, SURGbase purchase would be approximately $44,000 (GST inc), with 20% PA ongoing maintenance fee.
